Bradley D. Armstrong was arrested just before his wedding in La Porte County on March 17 for falsifying a marriage license application.<\/p>\n<p>Armstrong, 66, failed to disclose his status as a convicted violent sex offender on the application, according to the La Porte County Sheriff\u2019s Office. He has been charged with providing false information in a marriage license application, considered a level 6 felony in the state.<\/p>\n<h2>Legal Action to Prevent Marriage<\/h2>\n<p>A hearing was held on March 30 for a motion filed by LaPorte County Clerk Heather Stevens seeking to block the marriage between Armstrong and the woman he was set to marry. Stevens expressed concern for the woman, who is pregnant with Armstrong&#8217;s reported child.<\/p>\n<p>Stevens filed the motion as she serves as a &#8220;superior guardian&#8221; within the court system. This designation allows her to take legal action in support of the woman, who was previously deemed &#8220;incompetent&#8221; due to medical conditions in a 2021 court ruling.<\/p>\n<h2>Armstrong&#8217;s Legal Troubles<\/h2>\n<p>Armstrong, a convicted sex offender since 2002 for child molestation, is listed as a &#8220;sexually violent predator.&#8221; Following his arrest on March 17, he faces additional charges for failing to possess a valid identification as a sex offender, also a level 6 felony.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An Indiana court official has taken legal action to prevent a man described as a &#8220;sexually violent predator&#8221; from marrying a 22-year-old woman.
