Jen Shah, known from Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, shared how she managed to create her beauty products while in prison. She discussed using her commissary allowance to craft skincare items due to limited options behind bars.
Shah, aged 52, served over six years for orchestrating a telemarketing fraud scheme. She improvised by using hemorrhoid pads with witch hazel as an astringent, mixing them with laundry soap for skincare benefits.
She humorously mentioned spending more on beauty products than food some weeks, stockpiling supplies in fear of shortages. Shah joked about being the go-to person for beauty items in prison, like an “Ulta” store.
Despite initial worries, Shah’s face remained natural as she couldn’t access Botox while incarcerated. She was released early in December 2025 after serving close to three years and is now under home confinement.
Prison Life and Rehabilitation
During her imprisonment, Shah completed anger management classes, learning about anger triggers and healthy responses. She expressed regret for her actions and is focused on repaying victims as part of her accountability.
Shah clarified that she never intended to target the elderly and apologized for any harm caused. She reflected on her challenging first days in prison, facing taunts and adjusting to the environment.
