President Donald Trump said many empty oil tankers are heading to the United States to load crude oil, calling it “great news” amid ongoing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz. He said the U.S. has abundant high-quality oil and invited faster exports.
Although a ceasefire with Iran was reached two weeks ago, Iran is still restricting commercial traffic through the strait. Trump said the U.S. has begun efforts to clear the waterway and warned that Washington could act forcefully if Iran does not honor the deal.
At the same time, Vice President JD Vance is leading U.S.-Iran peace talks in Islamabad, as concerns over oil, gas, and fertilizer prices continue to affect global markets.
